Last October I was fortunate enough to be chosen as 1 of the 9 creative female participants of the Maha x Filling Pieces workshop. In honor of their collab – The Low Plain Court – they wanted to celebrate it by hosting a day where we got to design our own shoe! For me, someone who had dreamed of designing her one shoes and doing it religiously on NikeID, it was as a dream to come true.
During the day we got a tour of the Filling Pieces office, insight from the designers and a peek into the process/behind the scenes of the brand. The afternoon was spent designing our own shoe. Literally tearing apart a version of the Court shoe, gluing glitter onto them, finding the right materials and visualizing what my dream shoe would look like. And as a surprise on top of the amazing day we had, they revealed our shoe was going to get produced! A one of kind Maartje design, just for me!
Months later and after almost not being able to wait any longer from excitement the release party of our shoes finally arrived. At the Maha store, we all came back together celebrating our designs, creativeness and each other. As the cherry on top, we got to bring our shoes back home.
Thanks to Maha and Filling Pieces for this incredible experience!
